Islands Petroleum is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor and the exclusive distributor of Mobil Fuel and lubricants in PNG. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Orobay, and Mt. Hagen, as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.
We are currently seeking for a Draftsman to be part of our Engineering team to be based in Port Moresby NCD.
The Roles & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the Draftsman will be responsible for preparing, revising, and interpreting architectural, constructional, and structural drawings and designs. Other key responsibilities include:
- Work from sketches or notes to develop floor plans, elevations, sections, structural specifications, and diagrams
- Prepare detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided and Adhere to all relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Revise drawings and plans as necessary to accommodate changes in design, materials, or construction methods
- Coordinate work with that of engineers, surveyors, and other professionals involved in the project
- Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) equipment and software to produce 2D and 3D images
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment
- Identify, verify, and resolve discrepancies in designs and or drawings.
- Provide daily/weekly/monthly reports to the immediate Supervisor or as requested.
Candidate Requirements
The person we seek must have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Architecture, or related field, technical institute/college will also be preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of drafting experience in fuels, construction industries or similar
- Competence in AutoCAD based software’s 2D & 3D.
- Familiar with process pipping and tankage requirements.
- Able to translate concept sketches to CAD drawings in 24-48 hours.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Exposure to a complex retail environment, petroleum industry is an advantage.
- Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
