About the Role
Reporting to the Environment and Biodiversity Manager, the Environment Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating environmental and waste management activities across multiple projects from the Port Moresby office. The role requires a proactive individual who can monitor field performance, ensure accurate data reporting, and contribute to continual environmental improvement in line with the company’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS).

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the main contact for ESMS implementation, with a strong focus on waste data quality, invoice tracking, and supporting project delivery.
• Oversee waste management programs aligned with the reduce–reuse–recycle–dispose hierarchy; liaise with contractors to ensure accurate tracking and compliance.
• Provide technical advice on environmental practices, including waste segregation, composting, hazardous waste handling, and packaging.
• Conduct data entry, QA/QC, and analysis related to environmental monitoring, including water, soil, and other samples.
• Review contractor procedures, method statements, and ensure proper implementation in line with environmental requirements.
• Support internal and external audits, inspections, and site visits
• Assist in the preparation of environmental studies, manage third-party consultants, and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Deliver environmental awareness and training programs across the workforce and measure their effectiveness.
• Work with Contractors to ensure management plans, procedures and method statements are suitable and monitor implementation to ensure compliance.
• Deliver environmental training to raise environmental management awareness within the workforce and monitor the effectiveness.
• Contribute to regulatory compliance efforts and assist with relevant documentation, reporting, and engagements.
• Provide general admin support to the Environment Manager, including purchasing, documentation, and coordination duties.

Requirements of the Role

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Management/ Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental coordination or waste management roles, preferably in the energy, mining, or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong skills in data entry, analysis, and reporting.
• A strong expertise in the Environment database software highly desirable
