PHARMACY STOREKEEPER

Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization, founded in 1971 and working in 70 countries around the world. MSF delivers medical assistance to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from health care. MSF aids people based on need irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
PROJECT CONTEXT
In PNG, MSF has been working since 2007 in Lae, Tari, Bougainville, Gulf Province, and NCD Province. In 2024, MSF started a new project in Jiwaka province with the objective of enhancing access to care for survivors of violence in Jiwaka province and is now working to support the Department of Health to improve access to care for patients in JIWAKA and Highlands.
General Role
In the Jiwaka project, the Pharmacy Storekeeper's primary role is to support the medical team in the effective and efficient management of the pharmacy and medical stock, in line with MSF standards. The position also involves receiving, distributing, and documenting all movements of medical supplies. Additionally, the Pharmacy Storekeeper provides support to the logistics team on allocated time.
Main Accountability
Execute the pharmacy/medical warehouse storing activities in order to keep pharmacy stock above security level and following recommended conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) under the supervision of the Project Medical Referent, and in collaboration with the logistics team.
Specific Responsibilities
Pharmacy 80%
- Support PMR by ensuring suitable pharmacy storage conditions in accordance with pharmaceutical standards and maintaining MSF protocol.
- Participate in all drug and medical material movements and support PMR in monthly counts and consumption data.
- Support Mission Pharmacy manager in stock management and quality control of drugs and medical materials.
- Monitor and maintain pharmacy under MSF standards and ensure security of medical supplies.
- Responsible for tidiness and hygiene of the pharmacy, shelves, and stock.
- Controls access to the pharmacy premises and ensures protocols put in place for ordering are respected.
- Monitor temperature and report Cold Chain status. Implement procedure to detect immediately break down or any defect.
- Ensure appropriate storage and management of narcotic and psychotropic drugs.
- Receive, verify, and document incoming stock.
- Ensure FEFO stock rotation
- Maintain records in MSF stock management tools such as stock cards and Isystock.
- Monitor consumption and support PMR by analyzing consumption to manage stock availability and forecast future needs.
- Support Mission Pharmacy Manager works in collaboration with PHA staff to ensure quality of supplies distributed to patients is maintained.
- Identify any need for training or support to team in stock management and dispensing.
- Responsible for follow up of First Aid Kits, EPREP to be used any time
- Keep record of expired/damaged supply and support Mission Pharmacy Manager by ensuring proper storage and disposal of expired/damaged drugs according to MSF safety standard and waste management protocol and to national and international legislation.
Logistics Supply 20% support
- Receiving orders and deliveries, identifying potential disparities against cargo manifest or others and reporting them, and stores materials in accordance with the system in place.
- Support Supply Officer in packing & distribution of orders, if needed.
- Support in physical inventories of logistic stock.
- Maintain records in MSF stock management tools such as stock cards and UniField.
