SAFETY OFFICERS

Global Constructions Ltd has a reputable history of over 30 years in the Civil Construction industry in Papua New Guinea.

We are currently seeking to recruit: SAFETY OFFICERS for various Project site locations in Alotau, Magi highway- Central province and POM.

Requirements:

• Preferably a resident of respective locations
• Relevant tertiary qualification in safety.
• At least 5 years’ experience in OH&S at operational level in a large-scale organisation, preferably multi-site.
• Professional communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence at management level.
• Demonstrated knowledge of safety statutory requirements, regulations, codes of practice and guidelines, and the ability to translate and apply these to a work environment.
• Energy, enthusiasm and passion to work as part of a team.
• Good Analytical Skills with an eye for detail.

Duties:

• Provide site safety leadership
• Conduct daily pre start H & S Tool box meetings on site
• Carry out inspections for the purpose of regulating and ensuring safety policies are aligned with company regulations and the national standard and legislative requirements focusing on safety.
• Incident/Accident reporting
• Responding to and investigating complaints on safety matters and take appropriate action
• prepare site safety reports for management, EOM safety Audit
• Provide expert safety and wellbeing advice and technical support to line management.
• Identification of issues impacting safety and wellbeing at sites.
• Compiling Safe Work Method statements, Standard Operating Procedures and various other reporting.
• Managing Workers’ Compensation claims and injury management processes.
• Operational tasks including incident investigations, risk assessments and delivering health and safety training programs.
• Maintaining, updating and managing emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
