Supply Superintendent (Level 2)

The Role

To provide Purchasing, Warehousing, Logistics, Camp and Travel expertise to ensure the efficient and cost-effective Supply Department operation of Woodlark Mining Limited in PNG.

Key roles and responsibilities include

Everyone at Woodlark Mining Limited is required to understand and act in accordance with Geopacific Resources Ltd.’s Values, Code of Conduct and all Company Policies and meet all relevant internal and external compliance obligations.

The role incumbent and manager will identify and review the specific compliance requirements of the role.

Technical accountabilities

Safety

  • Ensuring and monitoring safety in the workplace by identifying and addressing hazards, participating in improving safety and ensuring all reporting requirements are completed.
  • Ensuring compliance with WML reporting procedures for any reportable incident.
  • Ensuring 100% compliance with Personal Protective Equipment requirements for all supply work areas.
  • Contributing to ensuring that the Supply Department meets its environmental obligations.

Warehouse

  • Lead the warehouse and supply chain function of WML.
  • Ensuring relevant inventory control and warehouse policies and procedures are implemented and maintained to protect the assets of WML.
  • Responsibility for the reconciliation of inventory costs between job cost and general ledger.
  • Managing the asset disposal process in accordance with relevant Corporate policy.
  • Providing financial and cost information to Departmental Managers as needed.
  • Coordinating management of fuel supplies and associated infrastructure and facilities at WML.
  • Responsibility for month end closure of the inventory accounts at WML.
  • Responsibility for contract ownership and management of Department specific supply agreements.

Logistics

  • Managing and monitoring the logistics function at WML to ensure the timely delivery of consumable and critical items to Site.
  • Coordinating site barge operations including scheduling, unloading and backloading of equipment and supplies for operation.
  • Developing strong and transparent supplier relationships at both the local and international level.
  • Assist with site flight operations where required. Minimise site air freight load.

Supply

  • Developing, in conjunction with the relevant WML Departmental Managers, clear and concise scopes of work for the supply of goods and services.
  • Ensuring there are efficient and effective buying practices for local requirements in line with Procurement Polices to achieve cost savings and best practice.
  • Developing local logistical and supply strategies in conjunction with GPR Corporate supply Department.

Camp

  • Supervising the WML Camp function to ensure effective and efficient service operations with specific focus on budget, procurement and stock management.

Travel

  • Managing and monitoring the WML travel Department to ensure the timely arrangement and execution of all in-country PNG and international travel arrangements.

Scheduling accountabilities

  • Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the Supply team.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting within the Supply Department.
  • Developing (in consultation with Supervisor) and coordinating operational and capital budgets for WML Supply Department.

People accountabilities

  • Contributing to the development of capability within the Supply team.
  • Building and developing an effective and efficient team.
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
  • Managing outputs and development of the Department and all Team Members.
  • Contributing toward good communication within the Supply Department as well as to all WML and GPR Departments overall, by developing and maintaining a team environment, which is conducive to two-way communication.
  • Aiding other members of the Supply team, WML Site Departments and GPR Departments when requested.
  • Contributing towards the maintenance of the image of a professional Service Department that is available to provide all necessary services/ duties requested by other Departments.
  • Providing guidance and training to Supply Department staff to achieve and maintain best practice across the Supply function.
  • Developing training programs in accordance with agreed training matrix.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with Geopacific’s Values.
  • At least 10 years relevant operational experience.
  • Strong supply, warehouse, logistics and purchasing experience.
  • Recognized and current Training Certification.
  • Successful team leader.
  • Ability to drive and implement changes.
  • High energy with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work effectively with people.
  • Tenacious, results driven, organized and team oriented.
  • Strong problem-solving skills working in a high paced work environment.

Desirable

  • A tertiary qualification in Supply Management.
  • Relevant experience in the mining industry.
  • Relevant experience in camp/ accommodation supervision and operations.
  • Relevant experience in travel arrangement supervision and operations.
  • Strong track record in warehouse management.
  • International exposure.
