Our Lihir operation in Processing Department is now recruiting for the position of Engineer – Process Control for FIFO role based at our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO).

Reporting to the Senior Specialist Process Control, this position is responsible for the maintenance and continued operation of process control systems (DCS, SCADA & PLC) hardware and software critical to the operation of the Gold Processing Plant. IPS, Geothermal and Diesel Power Stations and associated facilities. Leadership and management of assigned tasks and setting priorities to ensure that targets are met. Provide Maintenance, Modification and configuration to existing equipment utilised at site which include Foxboro I/A series, Distributed Control System (DCS), Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers at the processing plant and Wonderware SCADA, Modicons & Telemecanique Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) at the Lihir power stations.

The role will have responsibility to:

  • Ensure personal and team compliance with all company HSE requirements & policies including Fitness for Work.
  • Providing feedback to direct reports, team members and other stakeholders who are affected or interacts with during work execution. Participation in the company’s safety system ensuring safety of the person next to you and yourself.
  • Developing technical knowledge, establishing and monitoring technical systems, and managing relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Specific equipment and systems these technical accountabilities related to onsite includes: Foxboro DCS, Allen Bradley PLCs, AB PanelView HMIs, Workstations, Servers and managing the Foxboro DCS Control Systems Network (FDCS).
  • Preparing action plans and monitoring performance against plans delivered by senior team members, implementing work schedules to achieve required work output for the section.
  • Completion and maintaining the Bridges & Forces registry, Implementing and documentation of Software Change Requests and Implementing weekly work schedules and reporting to senior staff.
  • Planning and implementation of project works.
  • Development and review of SOPs.
  • Implementing and documentation of Software Change Requests and Planning and implementation of project works.

Essential Criteria

Ideally, our preferred applicant will have:

  • Degree Certificate in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar desirable.
  • Skilled in use of process control engineering software and systems
  • Minimum 3+ years in Control and Monitoring Systems as utilised in the Mining, Petrochemical or Processing Industry,
  • Good understanding of a process plant in a Mining Industry but not essential.
  • Assist in minimizing costs and improving plant performance thus increasing production at a minimum cost.
  • Continuously seeks to find ways to improve work performance.
  • PNG Drivers Licence – Class 6 essential.

The Requirements

  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must be willing to complete Police Character Checks
