The Role:

As the Governance Manager, you'll lead a driven team overseeing governance, risk, and compliance. Leveraging your expertise in reporting and governance systems, you'll drive the organisation towards its goals. Your primary tasks include managing all governance functions for the Group, implementing the risk management framework through data analysis and a robust assurance program, and fortifying defences against external business disruptions. Your role is pivotal in supporting the Chief Risk Officer and subsidiary risk units in managing yearly calendars and fulfilling reporting obligations to the Executive Committee and Board.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the governance program ensuring precise, timely reports aligned with statutory and management calendars, in coordination with the Chief Risk Officer;
  • Implement a capability strategy to build a team operating within risk limits and tolerances, while driving continuous process improvement and productivity.
  • Enhance Risk Reporting to deliver insights across all risk sub-units and coordinate training, development, and control assurance testing functions.
  • Lead manager for the Credit Inspection Unit, Business Continuity Function and Risk Reporting
  • Execute risk controls and management arrangements directed by Compliance and Risk Sub-Units;
  • Manage Internal Audit timelines, information requests, and compliance reporting as directed by the Audit and Risk Committee;
  • Manage year-end process for External Audit, and the implementation of the Risk Strategic Plan;
  • Execute tasks as instructed by the CRO, including fostering a risk culture across KSL's geographic presence and providing support for project risk and special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Diploma/ Degree qualified in either banking, finance, commerce, law, accounting and management disciplines
  • Experienced in finance and banking industry practices and professional standards, adept at developing new processes and documentation control registers from the ground up.
  • Integral knowledge of the data systems and operational products (eg: ICBA, Simplicity, CLAAS etc) that enable reporting
  • 2-5 years’ experience in control-related activity or enterprise risk management experience within a financial service environment (preferably).
  • Knowledgeable in understanding and implementation of a risk management framework.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring a team along with strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills, as well as problem-solving and time management skills are required.
