The Role

As their Senior Aviation Base Engineer based permanently in Port Moresby, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and safety of aircraft maintenance activities within the organisation. This includes upholding company policies and industry standards, maintaining licenses and authorisations, overseeing tool and equipment usage, conducting maintenance activities to the highest standards, addressing deficiencies promptly, promoting a culture of safety, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Additionally, the role involves coordinating personnel, managing schedules, and overseeing work plans to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uphold workplace standards according to company policies, procedures, and industry norms.
  • Maintain current licenses, ratings, and authorisations, promptly addressing any concerns.
  • Ensure appropriate use of tools, equipment, and materials, reporting any damage or shortages promptly.
  • Conduct daily tool checks, reporting missing items to relevant managers and following procedures for misplaced tools.
  • Manage and oversee all maintenance and planning activities to ensure compliance with best practices and current technical publications.
  • Effectively support the Engineering Manager of emerging deficiencies or safety concerns regarding aircraft operational readiness.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and potential cost savings and demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement strategies.
  • Ensure that licences and/or airworthiness authorities held by staff are current and valid.
  • Perform duties in a safe and healthy manner, in line with OHS & Airline Safety Regulations, and as instructed by the GM Safety/Quality Assurance.
  • Ensure all maintenance is correctly certified and accurate record keeping and relevant reporting is adhered too.
Qualifications
  • LAME with CASA Part 66 B1.1 and B2 Licence’s
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience including the maintenance of turbo-prop and light-mid jet aircraft.
  • Possess a strong understanding of staffing capabilities with proactive supervisory skills
  • Able to maintain a commercial mindset, not just focusing on engineering aspects but also understanding the broader business context.
  • Cultural sensitivity, effective communication skills, and experience in a third-world or emerging economy are imperative for the international team's success.
