Meddent, the brainchild of directors Dr. Richard Pickworth and Mrs Sandra Pickworth, was conceived and established in PNG in 1980. Necessity was certainly the mother of its invention, given that no service of its type existed at that time. Frustrated by an endemic lack of quality medical equipment and a dearth of competent local training and servicing Dr Pickworth, a practicing dentist with over 30 years experience in Papua New Guinea, decided to tackle the problem head on. He not only set about sourcing a wide range of new and refurbished machines and paraphernalia, but he also decided to expertly train his own technicians so that Meddent could provide the full service, from installing, repairing, servicing to maintenance of all its equipment.

Meddent is today one of PNG’s most respected suppliers of dental, medical and scientific & research equipment. Based in Port Moresby, Meddent employs a dedicated team of 12 top flight technicians, administrators and support staff, with both directors actively involved in the day-to-day operation.
