2X DAILY WORKER COOK

CONTEXT

Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization, founded in 1971 and working in 70 countries around the world. MSF provides medical assistance to populations in crisis, regardless of race, religion, belief, or political affiliation. In PNG, MSF has been working since 2007 in Lae, Tari, Bougainville, Gulf Province, and NCD Province. MSF is now working to support the Department of Health to improve access to care for patients in JIWAKA and the Highlands.

JOB PROFILE:

Prepare meals for patients and MSF staff, according to hygiene standards and security rules, in order to ensure their nutritional needs.

  • Carry out the preparation of meals for staff
  • Follow at all times all hygiene standards and security rules.
  • Control stock of food so as to ask for anything needed on time and prepare a shopping list and make purchases if required.
  • Ensure meals to be served on time.
  • If applicable, set the table before every meal and clean it up after each meal.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all facilities, utensils, and equipment.
  • If a domestic cook, ensure the provision of drinkable water during the day and when she/he leave cleaning, filling the filter and empty bottles, changing batteries if necessary.
  • Look after all equipment provided.
  • Keep an inventory of MSF kitchen utensils and equipment, i.e., plates, glasses, cutlery, cookware, etc., and ensure its integrity.

Report all important information (lost, robbery, damages, deterioration, incident, etc.) to the superior

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Local language essential (Tok Pidgin), basic knowledge of mission language (English)
  • Key competencies: commitment, flexibility, results-oriented, stress management, and teamwork
  • Previous experience with MSF or other NGO’s desirable

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • On Call Daily Worker - COOK
  • Based in Port Moresby
  • Candidates must be flexible with working hours and location
