SPECTRA POM IS HIRING – 2X LICENSED ELECTRICIANS!

Spectra Industrial Limited - a Leader in Sales, Service and Hire of Forklifts, Gensets and Industrial Supplies, is seeking two (2) organized, qualified, and well experienced Licensed Electricians to join our POM Workshop Team and be a part of our growing enterprise!

Position Description

  • Position Title: Licensed Electrician (2 Positions)

  • Reports To: Operations Manager / Southern Region Manager

Position Purpose

Licensed Electricians will be responsible for installing, testing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, wiring, controls, equipment, generators, forklifts, workshop facilities, and site electrical assets to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation. Applicants must hold a recognized electrical trade qualification, current PNG electrical license or registration where applicable, and a current PNG driver’s license, with practical experience, strong safety awareness, and the ability to complete electrical maintenance records accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Electrical Installation, Testing & Preventive Maintenance
  • Carry out electrical installation, inspection, testing, servicing, and preventive maintenance on workshop facilities, equipment, gensets, forklifts, and related electrical systems.
  • Perform scheduled and breakdown maintenance in line with company procedures, manufacturer requirements, and applicable PNG electrical and workplace safety standards.
  • Identify faulty, unsafe, or worn electrical components and recommend timely repair, isolation, replacement, or upgrade.
  1. Electrical Fault Diagnosis & Repairs
  • Diagnose faults in electrical circuits, control panels, starters, alternators, batteries, lighting, wiring, motors, and associated systems.
  • Repair, replace, terminate, and test defective electrical parts and components using correct tools, test instruments, and safe electrical work practices.
  • Conduct post-repair testing and confirm equipment is electrically safe, functional, and ready for operation before handover.
  1. Tools, Test Equipment & Materials Care
  • Use electrical tools, meters, insulation testers, manuals, drawings, and diagnostic equipment correctly and safely.
  • Maintain tools and test equipment in good working condition and report damaged, expired, or unsafe equipment promptly.
  • Assist with ordering, collection, and proper use of electrical parts, cables, consumables, and materials.
  1. Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping
  • Comply with company safety procedures, PPE requirements, lock-out/tag-out requirements, toolbox talks, and Papua New Guinea workplace safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workshop and work area, especially around live, isolated, or stored electrical equipment.
  • Report hazards, electrical incidents, unsafe equipment, and non-conformances promptly to the supervisor.
  1. Documentation & Reporting
  • Complete job cards, inspection checklists, electrical test records, service reports, and maintenance records accurately and on time.
  • Record parts used, work completed, isolation status, test results, and outstanding repairs clearly for workshop tracking.
  • Communicate equipment status, defects, risks, and maintenance priorities to supervisors and relevant teams.
  1. Teamwork & Operational Support
  • Work closely with mechanics, operators, stores, workshop staff, and site teams to meet operational requirements.
  • Assist apprentices or junior staff with safe on-the-job guidance where required and within company procedures.
  • Undertake additional duties, training, or site support as reasonably directed by management.
  1. Breakdown & Field Support
  • Respond to workshop or field electrical breakdowns and carry out repairs efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Support site-based electrical maintenance activities where travel, call-out, or roster work is required.
  • Ensure repaired electrical systems and equipment are safe, tested, compliant, and ready for operation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Grade 10 education, Grade 12 is an advantage.
  • Recognized Electrical Tradesman Certificate or equivalent electrical trade qualification from a recognized institution; NATTB-certified trade qualification is highly preferred.
  • PNG electrical license, registration, or authorization to perform licensed electrical work is required where applicable.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant electrician experience in a workshop, commercial, industrial, construction, mining, oil and gas, power generation, or maintenance environment.
  • Sound knowledge of electrical installation, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair procedures, isolation, testing, and safe work practices.
  • Experience working with generators, forklifts, industrial equipment, control panels, motors, batteries, lighting, and workshop electrical systems is highly desirable.
  • Current and valid PNG driver’s license is required – Class 6 or relevant license will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, manuals, and specifications, complete workshop documentation, and work independently or as part of a team.
