Position Overview,
Ashton Brunswick is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial records of the organization, ensuring compliance with local accounting standards and regulations, and providing accurate financial information to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities,
Financial Reporting:
- Preparing and publishing timely monthly and annual financial statements.
- Ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting.
- Processing monthly journals and analysing them.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Consolidating corporate and divisional budgets and forecasts.
- Managing monthly variance analysis.
General Ledger Management:
- Ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Ensuring month end bank reconciliations are completed in a timely manner.
- Managing bank feeds and supporting accounts payable/receivable/bank reconciliations.
Compliance:
- Supporting tax planning and compliance.
- Liaising with external auditors and suppliers.
- Preparing and lodging of tax filings, including GST, SWT, CIT and other local tax obligations
Other Duties:
- Preparing consolidated monthly management reports.
- Preparing and Managing Payroll
- Supporting the preparation of monthly P&L, working capital, and cash flow forecasts.
- Working closely with management to ensure all stakeholders have a clear understanding of the company's finances.
Qualifications & Experience,
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 6 years or more of experience in Accounting or Finance as an Accountant.
- Strong knowledge of PNG tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Reckon) and Excel
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team as a team leader managing 1 or 2 people
- Experience paying international creditors would be an advantage
Desirable Skills,
- CPA or equivalent professional certification
- Experience in managing Able Payroll and taxation for a business in PNG.
- Knowledge of foreign exchange transactions ‘
