We are looking for energetic and motivated professionals to join our team in Mt. Hagen.
POSITION: Accounts Clerk
The Accounts Clerk is responsible for supporting the finance team by performing day-to-day accounting and financial administrative tasks. This role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and on time.
- Send invoices and statements of accounts (SOAs) to clients and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Prepare and reconcile supplier statements and payments.
- Prepare bank deposits and reconcile EFTPOS and process direct deposit payments.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and prepare periodic reports.
- Update accounting databases and filing systems.
- Monitor and manage petty cash.
- Verify and process employee expense claims.
- Assist in preparing payroll data, timesheets, and related documentation.
- Support compliance with company policies, financial controls, and statutory regulations.
- Assist with preparation of financial documents for audits or management review.
- Liaise with suppliers, clients, and internal teams regarding financial matters.
- Prepare memos and reports as required by management.
- Perform additional finance or administrative tasks as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- Year 12 diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in accounting or finance is a plus.
- Experience in accounting or finance roles is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and accounting software.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Professional, discreet, and able to handle sensitive financial information.

Company Description: Able started in Perth Western Australia in 1982 by Rick Kyle and Nick Taylor and moved to Papua New Guinea in 1984. In 1985, Able Computing (PNG) was incorporated by Geoff Lazberger with Rick/Nick and several others became individual shareholders in the company. Geoff Lazberger ran the company as CEO until 1989 when he left to return to Australia. The initial list of clients around the country used either accounting software CBA or Arrow. The company was awarded national distributorship for both CBA and Arrow and I had also built up a dealership with companies having large clients bases who’d be a target for our software (Deloitte, Coopers & Lybrand, Daltron, etc,)
