Islands Petroleum (IP) is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Konebada, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Orobay and Mt. Hagen as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.
We are currently seeking for Accounts Receivable Officer under our Finance Department and based at our Port Moresby Office in National Capital District.
The Role & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Credit Controller, the Accounts Receivable Officers will be responsible for the following:
- Perform daily financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, posting, and recording accounts receivables’ information
- Process incoming payments & preparing invoices for sales or services rendered
- Prepare bills, invoices, and bank deposits
- Issue bill reminders to clients and follow through payment
- Identify, verify, and resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile AR ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted
- Generate financial statements and reports
- Provide daily/weekly/monthly reports to immediate Supervisor or as requested
- Attend to client general queries on invoicing and payments & maintaining a filing system of all AR documentations
- Perform administrative functions such as scanning, photocopying, and printing
- Continuously maintain a robust working relationship with clients and other stakeholders
- Maintain compliance with government and company financial legal requirements, policies, and procedures
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum Certificate or preferably Diploma in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
- Minimum 3 year’s working experience in accounts receivable role
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, and practices
- Ability to calculate and post figures & sound data entry skills
- Hands-on experience in using MS Excel as well as good command of English and MS Office Skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience in Pronto or relevant accounting software
- Good communication skills both verbal and written
- A team player with good personality
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
- Neat and tidy appearance
