Purpose

Our Lihir operation in the Health and Safety unit is now recruiting for the position of Advisor, Process Safety. Reporting to the Director, Health & Safety, the successful candidate will be able to implement Process Safety strategies and provide technical subject matter expertise to operational leaders to improve Process Safety performance.

Essential Duties

• Implementation of strategies to manage process safety risks for Lihir Operations. Contribution to the development of Process Safety Management Plans.
• Contribution to the development of and support implementation of process safety management systems (e.g. MOC, bridges and forces, operational readiness).
• Contribution to the development of and implementation of the framework for process safety risk management, including Bowtie risk analysis, integration into Material Risk, etc.
• Facilitate HAZOP studies and operational risk assessments
• Providing operational support and expertise to Operations Managers, Superintendents, and Supervisors about process safety matters, including reporting and investigating process safety incidents
• Performing first-level assurance activities for the Process Safety Standard and Process Safety related systems such as Management of Change
• Monitoring and maintaining process safety metrics to evaluate Process Safety Performance.

Training & Experience

Experience:

• Seven-plus relevant years of working experience in a large-scale mining industry
• Deep understanding of Process Plant Operations and approaches to mitigate Process Safety risk
• Formal qualifications in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH) are advantageous
• Substantial practical operational experience.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously from time to time.
• High attention to detail with good time management skills
• Completes concrete procedural tasks
• Follows procedural steps to complete work
• Uses practical judgment to overcome problems or requests assistance
• Sees alternatives based on trial & error

Working Conditions

• Must be open to a 22:20 rosters
• Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment
• Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months
