About Lihir
Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Your Impact
As an Advisor Electrical, you will play a critical role in keeping essential power and electrical infrastructure operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. Working across power generation equipment, high-voltage and low-voltage distribution networks, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and industrial infrastructure, you will help drive asset reliability, operational performance, and continuous improvement across a complex mining operation. Your expertise will directly support safe production outcomes while contributing to the development of people, systems, and electrical maintenance excellence.
As part of our team, you will
- Lead and support safe electrical maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with site safety standards and electrical regulations.
- Coordinate planned, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and asset health.
- Monitor and maintain critical electrical assets including generators, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, MCCs, and distribution networks.
- Work closely with maintenance teams, contractors, and operational stakeholders to deliver safe and reliable outcomes.
- Manage maintenance records, work orders, and asset information using systems such as SAP Fusion Maintenance Management.
- Support reliability improvement initiatives, condition monitoring programs, and continuous improvement projects that enhance operational performance.
- Contribute to the growth and capability development of team members while building your own leadership and technical expertise
Prerequisites for your success in this role
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
- A current Electrical Trade Qualification / Licensed Electrician.
- Demonstrated experience in electrical maintenance, operations, or asset management within mining, power generation, utilities, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical distribution systems, generators, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and power infrastructure.
- Experience coordinating tradespeople, contractors, and maintenance activities in a safety-critical environment.
- A proactive, safety-first mindset with the ability to conduct risk assessments, manage permit-to-work processes, and promote safe work practices.
- Strong planning, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
- Experience using maintenance management systems such as SAP Fusion, SAP PM, or similar platforms.
- Certifications such as HV Switching Authorisation, LOTO/PTW training, and electrical safety qualifications will be highly regarded.

Working Conditions
This role is offered on a 21:21 (day shift only) Fly in, Fly out (FIFO) roster to Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea
Our FIFO employees stay in a secure and comfortable camp, in an en-suited and airconditioned room equipped with mini fridge, TV and Wi-Fi. A variety of healthy meal options are catered for at our mess; and the wet mess provides a relaxed social setting where employees can unwind with a game of pool or darts.
