The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for qualified and experienced individuals in the position of Advisor Governance and Compliance
About the role
New Porgera Limited (NPL) is seeking a principled, analytical, and detail-oriented Advisor – Sustainability Assurance & Governance to help drive our commitment to responsible mining. This role ensures NPL meets its diverse, social, and corporate obligations while aligning with Barrick’s global standards and international frameworks, including ICMM, IFC Performance Standards, ISO, RGMP+, EITI, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
You will conduct governance and compliance tracking for obligations arising from MoAs, MoUs, Mine Development Contracts, community development and compensation agreements etc. Your work will ensure timely audits, robust internal reporting, and enhanced transparency in all sustainability-related commitments.
In this role, you will.
- Lead compliance tracking across hundreds of stakeholder agreements.
- Maintain accurate, auditable registers for social, legal, and environmental obligations.
- Conduct internal audits and support external assurance activities.
- Monitor and report on resettlement and community-related obligations.
- Ensure alignment with Barrick policies and international best practices.
- Provide strategic compliance updates and reports to senior management.
- Support training and integration of governance standards across departments.
- Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & Procedures
About You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience

The position requires a high energy individual, hands-on management style and desire to continuously improve you and your team’s knowledge and systems and methods of work.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Governance, Social Science, Engineering or a related field.
- 1+ years’ experience in sustainability governance, compliance, or assurance roles.
- Proven ability to manage complex social and legal obligation registers.
- Strong knowledge of international frameworks: ICMM, IFC, ISO, EITI, RGMP+, UNGPs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, SharePoint, INX, Borealis, and Power BI.
- Excellent report writing, data management, and audit preparation skills.
- Knowledge of Ipili or Engan is a strong advantage.
Mobilization Requirement
This is a PNG National Staff position, a site-based role on a Fly in Fly out arrangement with rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
