Your Impact
As the Advisor People Training (High Risk), you will play a critical role in developing a skilled, safe and capable workforce. You will design and deliver high-risk training programs, coach and assess employees, and help ensure operators are competent, confident and ready to perform safely in a dynamic mining environment. Through your expertise, you will directly contribute to operational excellence, workforce capability and a strong safety culture across the site.
As part of our team, you will
- Develop, deliver and continuously improve high-risk, lifting and equipment training programs aligned to industry, regulatory and company standards.
- Facilitate both classroom-based and practical, on-the-job training for operators and employees across multiple operational areas.
- Conduct competency-based assessments and evaluate candidates against nationally recognised units of competency.
- Perform field observations and partner with supervisors and operational leaders to identify capability gaps and training needs.
- Develop training packages and learning materials that enhance workforce capability and support safe production outcomes.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to employees, creating opportunities for learning, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate training records and learning data within the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative and safety-focused culture while actively promoting positive workplace behaviours and company values.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in high-risk training, assessment and workforce capability development within mining, heavy industry or a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116, TAE40110 or equivalent).
- Relevant high-risk work qualifications and practical experience in areas such as dogging, rigging, forklifts, cranes, elevated work platforms (EWP) and equipment operations.
- Workplace Assessor qualifications and experience conducting competency-based assessments.
- Strong facilitation, presentation and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive relationships across operational and leadership teams.
- An open-minded, flexible and adaptable approach, with a willingness to embrace change and continuously improve learning outcomes.
- Well-developed computer skills, including experience using learning systems and Microsoft Office applications.

You will join a collaborative Technical Training team dedicated to developing the capabilities of our workforce and supporting safe, productive operations. Working closely with operational leaders, supervisors and employees across multiple departments, you will influence training outcomes that have a meaningful impact on both individual development and site performance. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of stakeholders while driving continuous learning and a culture of safety excellence.
Working Conditions
This role is offered on a 21:21 Fly in, Fly out (FIFO) roster to Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea
Our FIFO employees stay in a secure and comfortable camp, in an en-suited and airconditioned room equipped with mini fridge, TV and Wi-Fi. A variety of healthy meal options are catered for at our mess; and the wet mess provides a relaxed social setting where employees can unwind with a game of pool or darts.
