Your Impact
As our Advisor People, Training (Safety), you will play a vital role in building a safer, more capable workforce across site operations. You will empower employees through engaging training programs, practical coaching, and competency assessments that support regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and a strong safety culture. Your expertise will directly contribute to developing people, improving workforce capability, and ensuring every team member is equipped to work safely and effectively.
As part of our team, you will
- Design, deliver, and continuously improve safety training programs aligned with company, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Facilitate both classroom-based and practical on-the-job training across a range of operational areas.
- Conduct competency assessments and field observations to identify skill gaps and development opportunities.
- Partner closely with supervisors, superintendents, business partners, contractors, and operational teams to understand business needs and develop targeted training solutions.
- Drive and influence proactive safety behaviours that support a positive workplace culture.
- Develop and maintain training materials, learning resources, and competency frameworks.
- Accurately manage training records and compliance data within the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Contribute to workforce capability planning through gap analysis and training plan development.
- Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning across the workforce.
- Support site-wide compliance objectives and contribute to the ongoing development of training standards and practices.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
To thrive in this position, you will bring a combination of technical expertise, strong facilitation skills, and a passion for developing people.
Essential qualifications and experience:
• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent).
• First Aid certification and relevant OHS qualifications.
• Minimum 5 years' experience within an industrial, mining, or heavy industry environment.
• Experience delivering safety-focused training and competency assessments.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles, training methodologies, and competency frameworks.
• Proven ability to facilitate engaging training sessions and coach individuals in operational environments.
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and learning management systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• PNG Class 6 and Class 3 Driver's Licence (or ability to obtain relevant site requirements).
Highly regarded experience:
• Mining industry experience.
• Confined Space Awareness and Controller/Tester qualifications.
• Working at Heights training experience.
• Light Vehicle, Light Truck, Traffic Control, and Load Restraint training expertise.

Working Conditions
This role is offered on a 21:21 Fly in, Fly out (FIFO) roster to Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea
Our FIFO employees stay in a secure and comfortable camp, in an en-suited and airconditioned room equipped with mini fridge, TV and Wi-Fi. A variety of healthy meal options are catered for at our mess; and the wet mess provides a relaxed social setting where employees can unwind with a game of pool or darts.
