Your Impact
As an Advisor People, Training (Trade Trainer – Electrical), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of skilled electrical tradespeople. By delivering high-quality training, coaching, and assessment, you will help apprentices build the technical expertise, confidence, and safe work practices required to achieve trade competency and successfully complete their apprenticeship journey. Your work will directly contribute to workforce capability, operational excellence, and the long-term success of our business.
As part of our team, you will
- Deliver engaging classroom, workshop, field-based, and on-the-job electrical training programs for apprentices.
- Coach, mentor, and support apprentices through all stages of their training and development journey.
- Monitor apprentice progress, assess competencies, and provide meaningful feedback to support successful outcomes.
- Develop and maintain training resources, assessment tools, and learning materials that align with industry requirements and emerging technologies.
- Promote a strong safety culture by embedding critical risk controls and safe electrical work practices into every aspect of training delivery.
- Partner with operational leaders, maintenance teams, safety professionals, and external training bodies to drive capability development and trade excellence.
- Contribute to workforce development initiatives, trade testing programs, and continuous improvement opportunities across the training function
Prerequisites for your success in this role
- To thrive in this position, you will bring:
- A strong background in electrical trades within mining, oil & gas, heavy industry, or vocational training environments.
- Demonstrated experience delivering electrical training, trade testing, apprenticeship programs, or workforce capability initiatives.
- A recognised Electrical Trade Qualification and a current PNG Electrical Licence or equivalent.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent vocational education and training qualification).
- Sound knowledge of electrical safety standards, competency-based training, and adult learning principles.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, mentoring, and communication skills, with the ability to engage learners at varying stages of development.
- A collaborative, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to think creatively and help apprentices achieve their full potential.

Working Conditions
This role is offered on a 21:21 Fly in, Fly out (FIFO) roster to Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea
Our FIFO employees stay in a secure and comfortable camp, in an en-suited and airconditioned room equipped with mini fridge, TV and Wi-Fi. A variety of healthy meal options are catered for at our mess; and the wet mess provides a relaxed social setting where employees can unwind with a game of pool or darts.
