About Lihir

Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course. Purpose
The Advisor Power & Utilities Operations will support operations team in P&U to ensure efficiency and compliance with safety standards.

Essential Duties

  • Adhere to daily P&U operations
  • Execute strategies to enhance operational efficiency
  • Support, collaborate with, and provide assistance to Supervisors P&U Operations
  • Assess data and report on improvement outcomes
  • Administer safety protocols and execute regular safety audits
  • Responsible for assessing relevant risks, executing mitigation measures, and continuously monitoring for risks
  • Provide technical expertise and support for operational troubleshooting
  • Produce weekly High-Level Plan (HLP) for execution.
  • Engauge in weekly planning meetings.

Training & Experience

  • A commitment to Safety
  • Relevant academic qualification or trade qualification in Power Generation, Practical knowledge gained from working in relevant Power Station roles - applied knowledge of technical aspects of the role including Power systems, equipment and systems
  • Practical and applied knowledge of working safely and sustainably in this area of Power generation.
  • Proven ability to identify risk and taking active steps to mitigate risk
  • Acquired knowledge of business and process improvement identifying improvement opportunity and taking appropriate action
  • Competent in safety, health, and sustainability
  • Knowledge in operation of boiler and steam systems is an advantage.
  • Knowledge in Heavy Fuel Oil separators operations is an advantage.
  • Knowledge in Demineralising operation for producing Boiler water is an advantage

Working Conditions
This is a 21/21 FIFO roster.
