Your Impact
At Newmont, safe, reliable infrastructure is critical to connecting our people, communities, and operations. As our Advisor, Road Maintenance, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving Lihir's external road network, drainage systems, and supporting civil infrastructure. Working at the heart of a world-class mining operation, you'll oversee contractor performance, coordinate maintenance and improvement projects, and help ensure road infrastructure remains safe, compliant, and operationally effective. As part of our team, you will
- Lead and coordinate road maintenance, drainage, civil works, and infrastructure improvement activities across the Lihir operation.
- Manage and support contractors to deliver safe, high-quality, and cost-effective outcomes.
- Drive a strong safety culture through visible leadership, risk management, inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and execute maintenance and project plans that ensure road networks are maintained to required standards.
- Monitor operational performance, analyse data, and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with operational, technical, maintenance, and community stakeholders to achieve shared business outcomes.
- Support a diverse workforce and contribute positively to team culture, contractor engagement, and site performance.
- Contribute to key infrastructure initiatives, including drainage upgrades and civil improvement projects across site.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
We are looking for a practical and collaborative road maintenance professional who enjoys balancing operational delivery with stakeholder engagement.
To be successful, you will bring:
• Experience in road maintenance, civil construction, infrastructure management, mining operations, or a related environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing contractors and coordinating multiple work activities.
• Knowledge of road construction, maintenance practices, drainage systems, and civil infrastructure.
• Strong planning, project coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• A qualification in Civil Engineering or a relatedrelated trade, technical, or civil discipline. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with exposure to AutoCAD or similar design software highly regarded.
• A commitment to safety leadership, continuous improvement, and building positive working relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. [
• Experience working in remote, heavy industry, mining, construction, or infrastructure environments will be advantageous.
Your work environment
This role is offered on a 21:21 Fly-in, Fly-out (FIFO) roster to Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea.
Our FIFO employees stay in a secure and comfortable camp environment, with ensuite, air-conditioned accommodation equipped with a mini fridge, television and Wi-Fi.
