Aircraft Maintenance Supervisors
PNG Air’s MRO Department is recruiting for Aircraft Maintenance Supervisors based here in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. This position reports to Manager Aircraft Maintenance.
Key Responsibilities include the following
- Recognizingsafety as a core value in all decision making in his area of responsibility.
- Fostering a positive safety culture within his area of responsibility and by personal example, demonstrating a commitment to the company safety policy.
In regards to supervision –
- Reporting to the Aircraft Maintenance Manager at the start of each shift to be assigned duties for the shift to be updated on daily/weekly occurrences
- Ensuring all shift members is present and actively employed during the entire shift.
- Ensuring all timesheet/cards are filled in correctly and certified as being correct.
- Supervising all aircraft maintenance activities and other tasks assigned to the shift
- Maintaining a personal physical presence on-site or in the immediate vicinity of the work being carried out so that those persons being supervised have direct access to qualified guidance.
- Communicating effectively with all members of the shift and ensuring sufficient staff as assigned to each task.
- Ensuring staff are qualified and competent to perform the maintenance function assigned to them.
- Ensuring engineers use the equipment, tool and appropriate technical data required for the proper accomplishment of maintenance task.
- Ensuring engineers perform maintenance in accordance with the appropriate manuals, policies and procedures.
- Ensuring stage inspections are carried out as necessary.
- Ensuring all task specified in the Work Pack which have been carried out have been signed for upon completion of inspections and all certification have been made.
- Ensuring all information acquired during the tests and measurements are recorded on the appropriate task card or maintenance record.
- As applicable, ensuring the equipment’s and processes for duplicate inspections and robbery of parts are complied with
- Prior to certification by the Supervisor of work performed by him, ensuring another LAME Checks the task performed
- Ensuring all paperwork is filled out correctly and certified correctly in accordance with the MOE
- Ensuring the all safety and environmental requirements are complied with and that work areas are properly maintained.
- Reporting any ground support equipment failures or out of calibration equipment to the Aircraft Workshops Supervisor
- Performing on-the-job technical training on aircraft maintenance practices, company policies and safety procedures with new employees as required.
- Immediately standing down any staff member observed chewing buai or perceived to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and notifying the AMM.
- Carrying out Team meeting at the start of each shift and report back to the Aircraft Maintenance Manager.
In regards to Coordination –
- Ensuring that all documentation and certifications are completed and correctly certified prior to the aircraft being Released to Service.
- Appointing a coordinator for each aircraft under maintenance
- Reviewing completed documentation daily and forwarding that documentation to Continuing Airworthiness.
- Ensuring all serial number of components off and on have been recorded and GRNs have been recorded for all parts and materials used.
- Ensuring any TSN, TSO and TTIS have been determined and recorded on all entries related to “robbed” components to show evidence that life remaining is within limits.
- Ensuring modifications embodied and/or repairs carried out are fully detailed on the Modification and Repair Report and in the case of modifications that a major versus minor determination has been recorded.
- Coordinating with the relevant production team to ensure that all maintenance entries have been completed and/or certified to that stage of maintenance when –
- Each step or stage has been completed
- Personnel are taken off the task even if temporarily
- It is the end of a day or shift; or
- The task or maintenance has been completed
- Ensuring any disturbance to, or effect on, the airworthiness integrity of completed and certified work as a result of further work arising or robbery of parts id identified, controlled and recorded, including the need to perform repeat inspections such as duplicates.
- Coordinating the accomplishment of all maintenance performed on PNG Air aircraft and customer aircraft as required by the Manager Aircraft Maintenance.
Qualifications,Skills and Competencies
- Tertiary Qualified in Engineering, Aviation or equivalent.
- Must have at least 10 years’ experience in the aircraft maintenance industry.
- Must hold a CASA PNG license with type ratings for aircraft operated.
- Must have demonstrated good communication skills (both written/oral)
- Must have completed training in human factors.
- Knowledgeable on the contents of the MOE and CASA Part 145 requirements
- Extensive experience in engineering positions is essential.
