The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Alternate Superintendent - Metallurgy
About the roles
The Alternate Superintendent Metallurgy supports the Superintendent in leading the team and optimizing plant performance. This role is ideal for a Senior-level professional ready to step into a leadership role. This role ensures continuity and oversight in the Superintendent’s absence and is responsible for ensuring that metallurgical activities align with operational goals, safety standards, and long-term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical direction to the operations team and support the management team in achieving KPI’s
- Short term metal planning and production forecasts
- Mill reline planning and forecast
- Support strategic decision-making with robust metallurgical analysis
- Mentor and guide metallurgical and operational teams
- Liaise with operations, maintenance, and technical teams
- Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & procedures.
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years’ experience in a similar role in mineral processing
- Assist in overseeing plant metallurgical performance and continuous improvement
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting and risk management
- Familiarity with project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
