About the Role
Are you a numbers-savvy problem solver with a passion for driving business performance?
We have an exciting opportunity for an Analyst Finance (General & Administrative and Capital) to join a dynamic and supportive Commercial team. In this role, you will provide strategic business partnering to operational departments at our Lihir Gold Mine in Papua New Guinea.
In this key role, you will deliver insights that drive cost discipline, performance, and productivity across the operation. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to influence decision-making and maximise business value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support operational teams with cost control, performance reporting, and driver-based analysis.
- Facilitate cost and capital review meetings and contribute to budget forecasting and NPV assessments.
- Challenge cost variances and benchmarks, identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities.
- Deliver insightful analysis to drive cost discipline, productivity, and performance across departments at Lihir.
- Guide and support staff through the end-to-end capital spend request process.
- Ensure timely and accurate capital submissions in line with business priorities.
- Liaise with the Capital team to ensure proper recording of new asset and disposals.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships to enhance business value and influence key decisions.
- Confidently present insights, recommendations, and outcomes to senior stakeholders.
- Foster a collaborative environment that supports innovation, risk mitigation, and improved outcomes.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will be highly self-driven, thriving in fast-paced environments while effectively managing your time and maintaining strong attention to detail.
You will add value through your:
- Proven experience working as a Business Analyst in the mining, processing or oil and gas industries.
- Tertiary Qualifications in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field.
- Professional membership such as CA or CPA.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of partnering with operational teams.
- Advanced financial modelling skills, with deep expertise in Excel.
- Advanced Power BI and Excel skills; SAP and TM1 experience highly regarded.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- Experience collaborating with international or cross-border teams.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
