Assistant Accountant

We are pleased to announce an open vacancy now exists in our Finance Department for a qualified and experienced Assistant Accountant.

Based in Port Moresby, this position will report to the Financial Accountant functionally and operationally. The Assistant Accountant will ensure that Finance operations are organized, efficient and produce accurate financial accounts.

The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

• Assist Financial accountants in Month end GL journal entries
• Check accuracy of invoices and Purchase orders
• Review and analyze expense accounts for coding errors and items causing major movements and make necessary adjustments monthly in conjunction with Financial accountant
• Ensure all assigned balance sheet accounts reconciliations are updated monthly and any discrepancies resolved subsequently
• Prepare summary expenditure report and assist in identifying trends and gaps
• Any other ad-hoc tasks as given by Financial Accountant

To be considered, you must have the relevant qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience:

• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required. May also accept degrees in business administration or economics with a focus on accounting.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred and will accept if some units of the CPA is completed.
• Must have at least 1 to 2 years of experience
