The Institute of Business Studies (IBS), from its’ humble beginning in 1987 as an arm of Nades & Associates primarily providing revision classes for the needs of Papua New Guinea Institute of Accountants (now CPA PNG), has evolved into a private University level Institution over the last 38 years. Today we are one of the largest business schools in the country and off degree programmes in the fields of Accounting & Finance, Business & Management, Economics & Development Studies and Information Technology. We also continue to provide study pathways for grade 10 & 12 school leavers including industry accreditations for those seasoned professionals who want to get certified in their field.

Position Overview:
The Assistant IT Lecturer supports the delivery of quality education in the field of Information Technology by assisting in the preparation, delivery, and assessment of coursework. The role involves providing guidance to students, supporting academic activities, and contributing to the development of a dynamic and innovative IT curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:

- Assist in preparing and delivering IT lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions.
- Provide individual or group support to students to enhance their learning experience.
- Develop and update teaching materials, including lesson plans, lecture notes, and assessments.
Curriculum Development:

- Collaborate with senior lecturers and the Head of Department to review and improve the IT curriculum.
- Stay updated on advancements in IT to incorporate new technologies and methodologies into the curriculum.
Student Support:

- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
- Assess and evaluate students’ progress through exams, assignments, and practical projects.
Research and Innovation:

- Support research projects and encourage student participation in research activities.
- Engage in professional development and contribute to IT innovations within the department.
Administrative Duties:

- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and assessments.
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other college activities.
Community Engagement:

- Support initiatives that promote IT education within the wider community.
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and outreach programs as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
-
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is essential.
- A Master’s degree (or working towards one) is highly desirable.
- At least 1–3 years of teaching or industry experience in IT.
- Familiarity with teaching at the tertiary or vocational education level is an advantage.
Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, or C++).
- Knowledge of database systems, networking, cybersecurity, or software development.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and educational technology tools like Moodle and ERP.
Soft Skills:

- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Team-oriented with a passion for teaching and mentoring students.
