CHM Group is an industry leader in retail and wholesalers of consumer electronics such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops, accessories, other gadgets, home & kitchen appliances (including air conditioning units and other whitegoods), manganese & alkaline batteries, and music in Papua New Guinea. We are currently seeking for an experienced candidate to join our ever-growing business by being part of our Retail Team.

The Assistant Store Manager will be responsible in assisting the branch operations and administration to achieve sales, profitability and drive business growth, through motivating and leading the team to deliver the highest customer service, and strict inventory management. This role is a key support in achieving the business goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist with supervising and coordinating the duties of all the Retail staff.
  • Ensure smooth operation in the Branch, always bring to the attention of management through Operations Manager anything to do with operations and security issues.
  • Ensure that guards are briefed everyday about their duties and responsibilities.
  • Initiate, checks, and controls all the activities of the branch to ensure that jobs and objectives are being met.
  • Assist the Store Manager to open the branch every morning and close the shop after trading hours.
  • Assist in reviewing the performance of staff annually using the set KPI.
  • Assist the Store Manager for admin works in the branch.
  • Assist the Store Manager in Product Inventory Management.
  • Prepare weekly reports to management regarding weekly accomplishments of the branch.
  • Reports all operational and administrative issues to management attention to the Operations Manager.
  • Promote and maintain good customer relations and maintain close liaison with staff.
  • Ascertain training requirements and needs for the branch.
  • Recommend and organize regular trainings to staff.
  • Assist in the implementation of company policies and ensure that company procedures are strictly followed.
  • Assist in the regular marketing and promotional activities of the branch.

Qualification & Skills:

The right candidate must have:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business or related studies is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Retail Branch Management position, preferably in Electronics or Consumer goods.
  • Understanding and adherence to sales targets and principles.
  • Flexible to work longer hours (if required).
  • Must be of sober habits
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Excellent computing skills particularly in MS Office and Pronto application.
