AUTO ELECTRICIAN
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Auto Electrician to perform maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and installations across a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, vehicles, cranes, generators, and construction machinery. This role reports to Division Manager, Plant & Hire.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform auto-electrical maintenance, repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and electronic faults using specialised diagnostic equipment.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Support workshop and field service operations.
- Supervise and mentor apprentices in accordance with NATTB requirements.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and workshop personnel.
- Ensure all work is completed to company quality and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 Certificate
- Vocational or Technical Certificate in Auto Electrical
- Tradesman Certificate in Auto Electrical
- Minimum five (5) years’ industry experience
- Experience with heavy equipment, cranes, generators, and light vehicles
- Competency in EFI system diagnostics and electronic fault-finding
- Ability to use diagnostic software and scan tools
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
- Commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship
- Flexible and responsive to field-service and breakdown requirements
