About the Role
The Auto Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance, repair, and overhauling of vehicle components, including engines, transmissions, differentials, suspensions, steering, brake, and electrical systems. You'll work on a diverse fleet, ranging from light vehicles to heavy trucks and forklifts, and ensure that all maintenance adheres to industry guidelines and safety standards.

You will also mentor and monitor Trade Assistants, fostering a positive and collaborative environment. With your leadership and technical expertise, you will ensure the highest quality of work, contributing to the reliability and safety of our company and contractor vehicles.

Key accountabilities include:

• Plan and allocate routine work for vehicles, trucks, and forklifts within the Autoshop, providing technical support to Trade Assistants and Mechanics.
• Ensure all vehicle inspections and routine services are documented and recorded in JDE according to manufacturer's recommendations and approved procedures.
• Troubleshoot and repair all mechanical and electrical breakdowns and defects, using proven techniques to pinpoint issues, source parts, and make necessary repairs.
• Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble vehicle components, using special tools to determine wear and referring to manuals for correct overhauling.
• Carry out routine servicing and testing of designated vehicles in the Autoshop, ensuring timely maintenance.
• Assist in investigating accidents, near misses, incidents, and equipment failures, and report MVI/A during servicing.

About You
You have a solid foundation in using a Maintenance Management System (e.g. JDE) and demonstrate a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance. Your ability to read, understand, and interpret applicable drawings enhances your diagnostic and problem-solving skills in routine areas, ensuring efficient and effective maintenance processes.

You will possess strong communication skills and excel in collaborating with Maintenance personnel and others, fostering a cooperative work environment. You are a team player with a keen understanding of career development opportunities and a readiness to pursue them, contributing to both personal and team growth.

Ideally, you will be Trade qualified as a Motor or Diesel Mechanic with solid experience as an Auto Mechanic.
