AVIATION CONTRACTS MANAGER
We are pleased to announce an open vacancy exists in our Commercial Department for a qualified and experienced Aviation Contracts Manager.
Based in Port Moresby, this position will report to the GM Commercial according to the specific description outlined below.
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
The Aviation Contracts Manager is responsible for developing the Charter Market and managing delivery of products/services into that space. The position is responsible for building Adhoc and long term charter contracts within both the Government and resource sectors.
SAFETY
The Aviation Contracts Manager is responsible for all aspects of safe charter operations and must maintain and adopt the following principles;
- Recognise safety as a core value in all decision making.
- Provide leadership and direction to the application of corporate safety and quality integrated management system within all aspects of Charter Operations.
- Perform a HRA for any new or varied Charter operation.
- Understand completely the company’s policies and procedures as documented within the Corporate Emergency Response Plan.
- Place the safety management plan into effect as it applies to the activities conducted with the Charter contract.
- Taking accountability for identifying causal factors behind failures, determining and implementing corrective and preventative action and controlling risk.
- Ensuring all staff engaged in the provision of charter services take personal responsibility for safety.
- Fostering a positive safety culture by personal example, demonstrating a commitment to the safety management system.
- Participating in the Safety & Quality Review Board.
- Ensuring all maintenance occurrences are notified to the Safety & Quality Management Group and defect incidents are investigated in the prescribed manner.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- External– Build and maintain robust relationships and strong communication lines with all contractor stakeholders
- Internal– Succeed in market growth through the engagement of internal service providers by activating resources within the; Operations, Customer Service, Commercial, IT and Finance teams. Ensure communication and reporting lines are mature in the transmission of information and data relating to all aspects of the Charter market, current and existing clients as well as evolution in the space.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contract Management & Compliance
- Maintain and oversee existing contracts, ensuring all obligations are met.
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, service level agreements (SLAs), and safety standards.
- Conduct contract reviews and risk assessments, identifying safety and operational risks.
- Manage and participate in contractor audits to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Provide detailed monthly contract performance reports to the CEO and senior management.
- Measure actual performance KPI’s monthly against both company and contract standards.
- Assess contract profitability, risks, and operational efficiency for continuous improvement.
- Ensure contract renewals, amendments, and modifications are aligned with company objectives.
- Market Research and reporting Responsibilities
- Conduct research on PNG’s charter aviation market, identifying trends and opportunities.
- Provide insights to senior leadership on potential new markets, competitors, and pricing strategies
- Analyze market conditions to develop new charter offerings and business strategies.
- Optimize opportunities for regular adhoc charter services.
- Revenue
- Ensure revenue targets are met.
- New Contract & Market Expansion Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new contracts and partnership opportunities to grow the charter business.
- Develop customized charter solutions for corporate and government clients.
- Negotiate and secure new business agreements with organizations needing charter services.
- Service Execution & Delivery (Operational) Responsibilities
- Oversee the service delivery process for all charter clients, ensuring operations meet contractual obligations.
- Ensure smooth execution of charter flight schedules, ground handling, and logistics.
- Address and resolve service-related issues to maintain client satisfaction and contract integrity.
- Work with flight operations, ground services, and maintenance teams to ensure service reliability.
- Ensure compliance with aviation safety, operational efficiency, and performance metrics.
- Monitor aircraft availability and scheduling to meet contractual obligations.
- Develop and maintain regular charter performance reports, tracking key operational indicators.
- Implement measures to improve on-time performance, reduce cancellations, and enhance efficiency.
- Provide feedback to operations and management teams on service improvements and optimizations.
QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE
- Tertiary qualities preferably in Business and or Finance related discipline
- Experience in the Aviation industry treated favorably
- PNG or emerging market economies experience is an advantage
- Experience in managing contracts
- 5 – 10 years of industry experience
