BAKERY MANAGER

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bakery Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our 7 day a week production, large scale bakery, located in Port Moresby. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both managerial and baking skills, ensuring the efficient and successful functioning of the bakery. This role involves managing staff, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to the development and execution of the bakery's business strategy.

MAIN DUTIES

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily bakery operations, including production, inventory management, and quality control.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and cleanliness protocols.
  • Implement and streamline efficient workflow processes to maximize productivity.

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and manage bakery staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Schedule shifts, assign tasks, and provide guidance to ensure the team meets production goals and customer satisfaction.

Baking Expertise:

  • Utilize hands-on baking experience to maintain and improve product quality and consistency.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and new baking techniques to enhance the bakery's offerings, including the addition of new products to introduce to the market.

Inventory and Supply Chain Management:

  • Manage inventory levels, order raw materials, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure a steady supply of high-quality ingredients.
  • Monitor and control waste to optimize cost-effectiveness and sustainability.

Customer Service:

  • Interact with customers, addressing inquiries, feedback, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Implement strategies to increase customer loyalty and satisfaction.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets, analyze financial reports, and implement cost-effective measures.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to contribute to the overall financial success of the bakery.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A degree or certification in Baking/Pastry Arts, Culinary Management, or a related field is preferred. However, significant relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • Proven experience as a Bakery Manager or similar role in a bakery setting.
  • Strong baking skills and a deep understanding of various baking techniques and recipes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and sanitation practices.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities and a dynamic work environment.
