We currently have an immediate vacancy for a Boiler Technician who is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the site’s boiler systems and associated utilities. This role ensures continuous steam supply to production lines, performs routine maintenance, and supports the overall reliability of utilities infrastructure at GFI Lae. This Purpose of this position is to Monitor all boiler operators and attend to any Boiler maintenance problem or break down including boiler water quality testings as well(Contains some statistical analysis) Able to operate the RO system proficiently and continuously monitor water quality.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Boiler Operation & Monitoring

• Operate, monitor, and control boiler systems to ensure consistent steam supply for production.
• Conduct routine checks on pressure, temperature, water levels, fuel supply, and safety devices.
• Record operational data in logbooks and digital systems.

2. Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers, feed pumps, valves, burners, and water treatment systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues affecting boiler performance.
• Assist in major shutdowns, overhauls, and inspections.

3. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all boiler operations comply with PNG safety regulations and internal GFI policies.
• Maintain and test safety valves, alarms, gauges, and emergency shutdown systems.
• Support workplace safety initiatives, including hazard identification and risk assessments.

4. Water Treatment & Quality Control

• Monitor and maintain boiler water quality, including chemical dosing and blowdown procedures.
• Conduct water tests to prevent scaling, corrosion, and carryover.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, daily logs, and incident reports.
• Report abnormalities, breakdowns, and potential risks to the Utilities Supervisor.

6. Cross‑Functional Support

• Assist with other utilities systems such as air compressors, generators, and refrigeration units when required.
• Support production teams during peak operations or emergencies.

To be considered for the role, you will need to have:

• Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting & Machining, or related field.
• PNG Boiler Operator Certification (Class 1 or Class 2).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating industrial boilers (fire‑tube or water‑tube).
• Strong understanding of boiler safety standards and water treatment processes.

Work Environment

• Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to heat, steam, noise, and rotating machinery.
• Requires use of PPE and adherence to GFI safety protocols at all times
