Bond Agent

DHL Express (PNG) Limited is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Bond Agent to support the efficient management of customs clearance and bonded cargo operations. The successful candidate will work closely with Customs PNG, NAQIA, customers, brokers, and internal operational teams to ensure shipments are cleared and released in compliance with all regulatory and DHL requirements.

As the Bond Agent, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of bonded shipments, coordinating customs and quarantine inspections, facilitating cargo release, and ensuring timely communication with customers and relevant authorities. You will play a critical role in maintaining DHL's reputation for service excellence while ensuring compliance with all customs and biosecurity regulations.

Responsibilities will include:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the bonded warehouse and bonded shipments.
• Act as the primary liaison between DHL Express, Customs PNG, NAQIA, customs brokers, and customers for shipment inspections and clearance matters.
• Coordinate and facilitate Customs PNG and NAQIA inspections to ensure timely release of shipments.
• Ensure all shipment documentation, customs declarations, permits and supporting documents are accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with customers regarding customs clearance requirements, duties, taxes, permits and shipment release processes.
• Proactively monitor urgent, high-value or sensitive shipments requiring intervention to meet customer delivery expectations.
• Maintain accurate customs records, clearance documentation and bond inventory records.
• Ensure the bonded area remains secure, organized, and compliant with DHL and regulatory requirements.
• Comply with all DHL policies, procedures, safety requirements and regulatory obligations.

Candidates' requirements for the role include:

• Diploma in Business, Customs or related discipline.
• Minimum of two years’ work experience in Customs, Freight Forwarding, Logistics or related industry.
• Sound understanding of PNG Customs regulations, NAQIA requirements and import/export procedures.
• Experience liaising with government agencies, customs brokers and external stakeholders.
• Strong administrative and documentation skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with the use of computers and other relevant technology.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure.
• Current police clearance certificate.
• Current Class 6 Driver’s license is preferred.
