We are seeking to recruit a Belt Supervisor for our FPM – OLC & Crushing Department. Reporting to the Belt Specialist, the successful applicant will mainly be responsible for Supervising the safe maintenance and repairs of Fixed Plant Conveyor equipment and all rubber lining work.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
• Supervise the safe maintenance and repairs on all fixed plant Conveyor equipment and rubber lining work
• Develop Job Safety & Environmental Analysis (JSEA) for each task and work within team environment
• Develop safe work procedures for all work relating to conveyor maintenance, belt repair, splicing and rubber lining work
• QA all major repair work carried out on the overland and milling feed conveyors
• Utilise the Danger Tag and isolation procedures
• Ensure appropriate PPE is worn and issued for all given tasks
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe work area and develop safety conscience work team environment
• Have the ability to evaluate equipment damage and to assess the extent of repairs required
• Ensure accurate and concise written feedback on work orders in regards to hours of work, work performed, parts used and status of job or equipment condition
• Ensure all tooling is properly maintained and returned to proper storage location on completion of tasks
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
• Certificate in Belt Splicing
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience preferably in Mining, construction or heavy industry
• High Level computer skills in MS Word & Excel
• Basic working knowledge of computerise maintenance systems, preferably Pronto
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills
• High level of planning, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrate ability to coach and develop subordinate personnel
• Demonstrate very strong safety focused and self-discipline
• Possesses current and valid or actively seeking to obtain a PNG Driving License

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
