Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Building Management Systems (BMS) Technician to support Venturi’s BMS solutions. The role covers new installations, upgrades and service work, and links BMS controls with Venturi’s IoT, metering and monitoring solutions. This role is based in Port Moresby, NCD.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate and commission BMS controllers, field devices, sensors, actuators and network cabling in line with drawings, points schedules and specifications.

• Carry out inspections and designs for implementation.

• Configure controllers, setpoints, schedules, alarms and trend logs; carry out point-to-point checks and functional testing.

• Integrate BMS with HVAC plant, power meters, generators and third-party systems (BACnet, Modbus and similar protocols).

• Carry out preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis and breakdown response on installed systems.

• Monitor alarms and system performance remotely; recommend changes to improve comfort, energy use and reliability.

• Complete job documentation: test sheets, commissioning records, service reports and photo documentation.

• Work within Venturi’s safety requirements and policies.

Requirements

Essential

• Recognised trade qualification in electrical, electronics, instrumentation or refrigeration and air conditioning.

• Demonstrated experience installing, commissioning or servicing BMS or building automation systems.

• Able to read and work from controls drawings, schematics, points lists and wiring diagrams.

• Working knowledge of HVAC systems and control strategies (AHUs, chillers, fan coil units, pumps, VFDs).

• Sound knowledge of electrical safety practices, including safe isolation.

• Confident using a laptop for controller software, network set-up and fault finding.

• Valid or renewable driver’s licence.

Desirable

• Experience with major BMS platforms (Siemens Desigo, Honeywell, Johnson Controls Metasys, Schneider EcoStruxure, Tridium Niagara).

• Networking knowledge: IP addressing, switches, BACnet/IP and Modbus TCP.

• Current PNG electrical licence.

• Control panel building and wiring experience.

• Exposure to energy metering, IoT or remote monitoring systems.

• Working at heights, confined space and LOTO tickets
