Blue Planet Logistics are now seeking an experienced Business Development Executive to join our Logistics Team in Port Moresby.

Job Title: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE

About the role

An exciting opportunity for a sales professional to join our growing team!

This role is responsible for building and maintaining a specific sales pipeline, regularly interfacing with existing and new customers and focus on expanding the Blue Planet Logistics share of wallet with the end customer. The BDE will source, secure, retain and maintain customers including account management programs with the aim to scale the logistics business as well as leveraging existing networks within the related sector to drive continual growth.

The role will work closely with Blue Planet Logistics business divisions and stakeholders to grow identify, build, lead and close all business opportunities that position Blue Planet as a leader in the logistics market in PNG.

The key roles and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

Sales and Customer Solutions

  • Lead generations to build target accounts and business pipeline
  • Support current and future vertical pipeline
  • Regular interface with prospective and current customers
  • Develop and build sales targets with medium and long-term opportunities that fit the business strategy of Blue Planet Logistics
  • Successfully close out target customers which provide a profitable return to the business and align with Blue Planet sales strategies
  • Establish, maintain and improve key account management practises to ensure retention and improvement to the customer base
  • Work closely with Commercial, subject matter experts, key accounts customers service and operations to secure the best outcome for the customer

Pipeline Management

  • Accountable for the ongoing management of customers in your market
  • Accountable for growing the customer base
  • Accountable for sourcing and maintaining a target market pipeline
  • Accountable for offering additional services to existing customers.
  • Report to management of all sales activities within the pipeline

Account Management

  • Accountable for the ongoing management of the customer base
  • Ensure our operations key staff are invited to regular meetings with the customer base to build the relationships
  • Review on a regular basis the operating procedures to ensure we exceed the client’s expectations

About you

  • 5+ years’ experience in sales development role particularly focused on the related sector
  • Experience in the Import vertical in Freight Forwarding, landside logistics or supply chain management roles
  • Able to manage priorities, be well organised, methodical and deal well under pressure
  • Excel in customer lead generation experience
  • Experience in driving and developing relationships in the market, to build the BPL brand awareness
  • Experience in developing customer relationships with a high retention rate
  • Excellent consultative sales and relationship management
