Business Development Officer

Introduction:

The Media Council of Papua New Guinea (MCPNG) invites qualified and experienced individuals or firms to submit proposals for the role of Business Development Officer. The purpose of this engagement is to assist MCPNG in generating funds and enhancing sustainability through strategic business development efforts.

Background:

MCPNG is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting and safeguarding media freedom, ethics, and professionalism in Papua New Guinea. As an independent media watchdog, MCPNG plays a crucial role in ensuring the media industry's responsible growth and ethical conduct.

Scope of Work:

The selected Business Development Officer will be responsible for the following key activities:

  1. Fundraising: Identify, research, and pursue potential sources of funding, including government grants, corporate sponsorships, and philanthropic foundations.
  2. Strategic Partnerships: Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with relevant organizations, including media outlets, educational institutions, and civil society organizations.
  3. Grant Proposal Writing: Prepare and submit grant proposals, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and timelines.
  4. Fundraising Events: Plan and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives to engage the community and raise funds.
  5. Donor Relationship Management: Maintain positive relationships with existing donors and stakeholders while cultivating new ones.
  6. Financial Sustainability: Develop and implement strategies to enhance MCPNG's financial sustainability, including membership drives, fee-based services, and revenue-generating activities.
  7. Reporting: Provide regular and timely reports to the MCPNG Executive Team on fundraising activities, progress, and outcomes.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Proven track record in fundraising and business development, particularly in the non-profit sector
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Experience in grant proposal writing and management.
  4. Familiarity with the media landscape and regulatory environment in Papua New Guinea is an advantage.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. Ethical and transparent conduct in all business development activities.
  7. Experience in risk assessment.

Interested individuals should submit their EOI’s, including a cover letter, CV/Resumé, and a detailed plan outlining their approach to fundraising and business development for MCPNG.

Evaluation Criteria:

EOI’s will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. Relevant experience and qualifications.
  2. Effectiveness of the proposed approach.
  3. Alignment with MCPNG's mission and values.
  4. Budget and cost-effectiveness.
  5. References and track record of success.
