An exciting opportunity has become available for a Business Improvement Analyst to join the People team.
Reporting to the Manager People, you'll play a key role in identifying opportunities to improve processes, enhance operational performance and support strategic decision-making across the business.
The role combines business analysis, continuous improvement and data driven problem solving. Working closely with HR, Camps & Travel, and Learning & Development (Training) teams to identify improvement opportunities, optimise processes, enhance workforce services, and deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, cost control, compliance, and employee experience.
The role focuses on analysing business performance, improving systems and workflows, driving data-led decision making, and supporting change initiatives across workforce-related functions.
In this role the key accountabilities include:
- Business Improvement & Process Optimisation
- Identify improvement opportunities across HR, camp operations, travel management, and training processes.
- Conduct current-state assessments, process mapping, root cause analysis, and develop future-state solutions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance service delivery.
- Develop business cases, benefits tracking, and implementation plans for improvement initiatives.
- HR Systems & Workforce Optimisation
- Analyse workforce data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Improve HR processes including onboarding, workforce planning, employee lifecycle processes, and reporting.
- Support optimisation of HR systems, data integrity, and reporting capability.
- Develop dashboards and insights to support workforce decision making.
- Camps & Travel Improvement
- Analyse camp occupancy, utilisation, workforce movements, and travel patterns to identify cost and capacity improvements.
- Improve workforce accommodation planning and bed utilisation processes.
- Support improvements to mobilisation, demobilisation, FIFO travel planning, and roster management.
- Develop reporting solutions to provide visibility of workforce movements and camp demand
- Learning & Development / Training Optimisation
- Review training processes, systems, compliance requirements, and reporting.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Tertiary qualifications in Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Management, Industrial Psychology, or related discipline.
- Experience in business improvement, operational excellence, HR transformation, or process optimization.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret workforce and opertional data.
- Experience with HR systems, workforce reporting, travel/camps systems or learning platforms.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Experience with change management methodologies.
- Advanced reporting capability (Excel, Power BI, data analytics desirable
- HRIS (example SAP Successfactors, Oracle)
- WOrkforce Management Systems
- Travel Management Systems
- Accommodation & Camp Management Systems
- Power BI / Reporting Platforms
This role will be based in Lae, Morobe Province and open to PNG National candidates only.

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
