Campus Administrator

The Modawa Institute is a newly established higher education provider in the Northern Province of PNG. The Institute formally came into being as of 1 January 2024, but builds on more than 70 years of involvement in higher education within Papua New Guinea. There are three schools, each with a Head of School:

  • St Margaret’s School of Nursing and community health.
  • The Bishop Newton School of Theology.
  • The David Hand School of Teaching.

The institute is seeking a suitably qualified and highly motivated general administrator, who will contribute to the development of this new higher education institute. Reporting to the Principal/ Dean, the Administrator shall oversee general (non-academic) administration of the campus. He or she shall be person with background in administration, preferably with experience in the education sector. Demonstrated financial expertise is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • The Administrator shall work with the Dean and finance team on budget preparation, collaborate with accounts and finance staff, the accountant and auditor, to ensure accurate financial record-keeping, and ensure careful budgetary control.
  • He or she shall ensure compliance with labour laws, develop and implement human resources policies and procedures, performance evaluation, professional development as well as employee benefits and welfare programs.
  • The Administrator will work with the Principal/Dean to coordinate development and maintenance of institute grounds, buildings and other infrastructure in line with Governing Council planning and budgetary parameters.
  • He or she will work with the ICT officer to serve both academic and administrative functions.
  • He will ensure that capital items such as vehicles, genset, mowers and are properly serviced and maintained.
  • He or she shall ensure efficient record-keeping, confidentiality, and compliance with data protection regulations and Governing Council policies. The Administrator will ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, keeping up to date with relevant laws and regulations concerning education, employment, finance, and data protection.

He or she will directly supervise:

  • Finance staff
  • Drivers and ground staff.
  • Security officers.
  • Site officer
  • Maintenance workers (carpenters)

Term of contract: Three years, with year one being probationary.

Appointment: On nomination of the Dean, with confirmation by the Governing Council.

Accountability: The Institute Campus Administrator shall report to the Dean.

Salary: By negotiation and in accord with qualifications and experience.

Special requirements: The successful applicant must be willing to support the ethos and moral position of the Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea.
