About Us: At the Royal Papua Yacht Club, we offer a diverse range of clubs that cater to a variety of interests. From our sailing and fishing divisions for avid water sports enthusiasts to our kids' programs for young adventurers, there's something for everyone.
Established in 1921 as the Port Moresby Aquatic Club, the club is now the premier yachting club in the region and has over 2,000 members and more than 200 berth marina facility along with Restaurant and bar are the finest in the country. Our club provides a multifaceted experience that suits a wide spectrum of interests and passions.
We are currently seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our dynamic team.
Responsibilities and requirements:
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials according to specifications.
- Construct and install frameworks, structures, and fixtures such as windows, door frames, and stairs.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework, floors, and walls.
- Ensuring that all work meets building codes and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and team members on various construction projects.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in safe and working condition.
- Perform finishing work including sanding, varnishing, and painting as required.
- Provide excellent service and support to the Club, addressing any concerns promptly.
Requirements:
- Proven 2 years of experience or more as a Carpenter or similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods, including installation and construction.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools related to carpentry work.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
- Understanding of building codes and safety regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Physical stamina and dexterity, with the ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or equivalent training is preferred.
