Consort Express Lines under the Steamships Trading Company, is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and results-driven Cartage Coordinator to join our team in Port Moresby.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all cartage and transport arrangements within Port Moresby. This includes ensuring that all cartage requests are processed and booked in a timely manner, and that the coordination of empty and full container pickups and deliveries is executed efficiently and on schedule.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The key responsibilities are as follows.

  • Acknowledge receipt of customer requests for cartage via email/phone or over the counter.
  • Process transport bookings for door term customers according to the preferred service level as indicated by the customer on the booking form and if need be process liner booking per booking form.
  • Responsible for providing Agency Booking Confirmation and Transport Booking reference to East West Transport and coordinating with East West Transport for delivery of empty containers to customers.
  • Responsible for following up on door to door and door to wharf interim cargoes by coordinating with East West Transport through the email or phone for back loads to be delivered to wharf before the cut off date and time specified on the Daily Cargo Receival Schedule.
  • Responsible for coordinating with Port Operations for Late Delivery advisories.
  • Ensure Transport Legs are accurately updated in cargowise, with all signed delivery dockets uploaded to the system and etc..

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in shipping and Logistics industry.
  • Experience with a cargo documentation management platform, such as Cargowise.

Qualifications and Key Ccompetencies

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Ports & Shipping, Logistics or relevant professional experience.
  • Be Computer literate and have sound knowledge preferably in Microsoft Excel, Word and Email.
  • Good and clear communicator and a team player
  • Reliable and able to work under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to handle work pressure and pay attention to detail.
