About the Role

TE PNG Ltd is seeking an experienced and driven Category Manager to take ownership of our inventory and supplier portfolio across Electrical, Hardware, and Wholesale categories. Based in Port Moresby, this is a key operational role that ensures our business maintains optimum stock levels, competitive pricing, and effective supply chain performance.

You’ll be responsible for managing stock movement, identifying and clearing aged inventory, maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, and supporting internal teams with accurate and timely stock information. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role with a strong commercial focus.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for product lifecycle management across key categories: Electrical, Hardware, and Wholesale
• Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock holding and rotation
• Identify, report, and action strategies to reduce aged and slow-moving stock
• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to negotiate best pricing, delivery terms, and rebates
• Ensure accuracy of stock data and product information across internal systems
• Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics and sourcing strategies
• Analyse sales trends and work closely with sales, technical, and project teams to forecast demand
• Implement systems to ensure efficient procurement and replenishment processes
• Maintain compliance with internal procedures and industry best practices
• Provide regular reporting on stock position, supplier performance, and margin analysis

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a similar Category Manager, Procurement Manager, or Inventory Management role
• Strong background in electrical, hardware, or wholesale distribution preferred
• Solid understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles
• Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate commercially
• Experience with ERP systems and inventory tracking tools (Pronto or similar)
• Commercial mindset with strong analytical and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments
• Experience managing aged stock and implementing clearance strategies
• High level of initiative, accountability, and attention to detail
• Must be willing to live and work full-time in Papua New Guinea
