The Fred Hollows Foundation PNG Inc is seeking an experienced Centre Manager (CM) to lead the non-clinical operations of the new Papua New Guinea Centre for Eye Health (CfEH).
The Centre will open in November 2026 and is a state-of-the-art facility supporting specialist eye care training and the delivery of high-quality eye care services across Papua New Guinea. This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in establishing and managing a nationally significant eye health facility.
About the role
The Centre Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Centre and work closely with the Clinical Coordinator, Ophthalmology Discipline Lead, the National Department of Health and other key partners to ensure the Centre operates efficiently, safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Operations Management: Ensure the Centre’s resources, infrastructure and assets are effectively managed, maintained and used appropriately. Support clinic planning, training activities, outreach coordination, procurement and operational reporting.
- People Leadership: Lead and support the Centre’s administration team, promote an inclusive and high-performing culture, uphold HR policies, and support staff development.
- Planning, Reporting & Financial Oversight: Work with partner finance and administration teams to support annual planning, budgeting, financial monitoring and compliance with relevant financial processes. Ensure accurate and timely reporting as required.
- Partner & Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain constructive day-to-day relationships with NDoH, PMGH, SMHS, the PBL and other partners. Support effective governance and uphold commitments under all partnership agreements.
- Risk Management, Health, Safety & Security: Ensure all Centre activities adhere to safety, safeguarding, security and risk management protocols, and maintain a safe, healthy and secure environment for staff, patients, students and visitors.
About you:
- Minimum five years’ management experience at a senior management level
- A tertiary qualification in a health discipline, Public Health, Health Management or Health Administration is desirable
- Experience working in civil society and/or the health sector is desirable; experience managing a complex facility is an advantage
- Significant experience and strong skills in operational, financial and people management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work effectively with partners and stakeholders, are essential
