Coastal Retail Services Limited is inviting applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Chef. The successful applicant will prepare high-quality meals, maintain kitchen standards, support catering and retail food operations, and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, cook, and present meals according to approved menus, recipes, and quality standards.
- Oversee daily food preparation and ensure meals are served on time and in proper portions.
- Maintain consistency in taste, quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Assist in menu planning, food costing, stock control, and reduction of food wastage.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and rotation of food ingredients and supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and workstations.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards.
- Guide and supervise cooks, kitchen hands, and junior kitchen staff when required.
- Coordinate with the Head Chef, Supervisor, or Business Manager on kitchen requirements and operational issues.
- Support catering, restaurant, and retail food service operations as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven work experience as a Chef, Senior Cook, or similar kitchen role.
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, kitchen operations, and food presentation.
- Experience in restaurant, catering, retail food service, or fast-food operations is an advantage.
- Formal culinary training, trade certificate, or food handling certification is preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet service deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, or extended hours when required

- Strong cooking, food preparation, and kitchen management skills.
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to supervise and guide kitchen staff effectively.
- Good communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
- Attention to detail in food quality, portioning, and presentation.
- Ability to control wastage, monitor stock, and follow cost-control procedures.
