Position Title: Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Location: Main Campus (with travel to open campuses as needed)
Reports To: National Principal
Oversee: Finance Manager; HR Manager, Technical Services Manager, and Business Manager.
Works Closely With: Vice Principal Education; Farm Fresh CEO

Overall Purpose and Scope:
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) is a key executive leader responsible for the day-to-day management and operational integrity of the theological college. With oversight of non-academic operations across the main campus and two smaller campuses, the COO will ensure efficient, effective, and mission-aligned operations, including finance, human resources, administration, business enterprises, and technical services, and the interface between faculty and administrative departments. The COO is also responsible for managing the partnership with Farm Fresh and SICO and other organisations essential to the College’s operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Operations Management
- Collaborate with the College National Principal to implement and manage operational strategies that align with the college’s mission and vision.
- Oversee resource allocation, operational planning, and project management to optimize the use of college assets and infrastructure.
- Leadership and Supervision
- Oversee and support key managers, including the Finance Manager, HR Manager, Technical Services Manager, and Business Manager, ensuring effective and coordinated operations across all departments.
- Provide guidance, professional development, and performance management for direct reports to maintain a well-functioning and motivated team.
- Financial Management
- Develop, monitor, and report on budgets for all non-academic departments, ensuring financial sustainability and alignment with strategic goals.
- Coordinate with the Finance Manager to manage cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, and financial compliance across campuses.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to identify and pursue revenue-generating opportunities, including the college’s farm, guesthouse, and other business services.
- Human Resources and Administration
- Oversee human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, staff development, and performance management, ensuring compliance with labour laws and internal policies.
- Ensure HR policies support a supportive, inclusive, and effective work environment for faculty and staff in alignment with the college’s Christian values and mission.
- Assist in organising and coordinating board meetings and governance committees to ensure efficient administrative support and smooth operational processes.
- Business and Technical Services
- Oversee technical and logistical services, including campus maintenance, IT, security, and infrastructure development.
- Manage operations of the college’s business enterprises (farm, guesthouse, store), ensuring they meet operational, financial, and quality standards.
- Establish sustainability practices and efficient service delivery models to support operational continuity.
- Manage relationships with external service providers, including security, maintenance, and other companies, ensuring service quality, cost-effectiveness, and contract compliance.
- Farm Fresh Relations
- Serve as the primary liaison with Farm Fresh. Ensure alignment with college policies and foster a productive partnership.
- Maintain clear and effective communication channels with the company’s board and management team to support cooperative use of shared resources and infrastructure.
- Faculty and Education Interface
- Serve as a liaison between faculty and administrative departments to facilitate communication, coordination, and a collaborative work environment.
- Address and resolve administrative or operational issues impacting academic delivery promptly.
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, accreditation requirements, and policies across all operational areas.
- Manage risk assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies, particularly in relation to campus safety, financial risks, and operational contingencies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: A relevant qualification to at least bachelor’s degree level, with a master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years in a senior operations role, ideally within an educational or nonprofit environment. Experience with campus-based or multisite operations is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong financial management, budgeting, and analytical skills.
- Proven expertise in human resources, administration, and operational management.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Alignment with and commitment to the mission and values of a Christian educational institution.
