Child Protection in Education Officer (2X) - (Morobe Based)
CARE International in PNG is recruiting a 2X Project Officer position under the Child Protection in Education Project based in Lae, Morobe. CARE is an international development and humanitarian aid organisation fighting global poverty, with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring lasting change to their communities. As a non-religious and non-political organisation, CARE works with communities to help overcome poverty by supporting development efforts and providing emergency assistance. We believe supporting women and girls is one of the most effective ways to create sustainable outcomes in poor communities.
This position will support schools, communities and partners and create a conducive environment for children to thrive in education and other social aspects of their lives, through the approaches provided below:
- Stakeholder mobilisation to ensure key partners support and ensure children are protected and their rights are not abused.
- Increased awareness and capacity building for schools, communities and partners on child protection.
- Establish or strengthen a system that respond effectively to child protection issues.
- Increased community awareness of child protection risk in emergencies and conflicts.
This Position will have direct contact with Children or vulnerable adults.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Child Protection or equivalent and/or minimum 3-5 years relevant work experience, preferably in community development, education and capacity strengthening preferably for an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO)
- Demonstrated understanding of Child Protection and a commitment to CARE’s approach and values including ethnic diversity and cultural sensitivity
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, including the ability to plan and manage workflows and balance competing priorities to ensure timely processing to meet deadlines in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, decision making, problem solving, planning, analytical and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively leading, people management and motivating a team.
- Demonstrated characteristics in honesty, reliability, trustworthiness with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Representational skills including developing networks and relationships with key stakeholders.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in both Pidgin and English
- Fully conversant in Microsoft Office with knowledge in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.;
- Demonstrated characteristics in honesty, reliability, trustworthiness with the ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Demonstrated ability to contributes to group objectives and work effectively in a group setting.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in both Pidgin and English; and
- Fully conversant in Microsoft Word, Excel and numeric skills
