POSITION VACANCY: CIVIL SUPERINTENDENT

Reinhold Engineering and Group of Companies Limited is a nationally owned civil works and building construction company based in Port Moresby. As we continue to grow and strengthen our operations across Papua New Guinea, we are seeking a capable and experienced Civil Superintendent to lead and coordinate civil construction activities.

About the Role

The Civil Superintendent will oversee daily civil construction operations, coordinating site teams, subcontractors, plant and materials to deliver works safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and construction programmes.

The successful applicant will supervise earthworks, road and pavement construction, drainage, concrete works and associated civil infrastructure, ensuring quality workmanship and effective use of resources.

Key Responsibilities

Site Leadership & Civil Construction Delivery

• Plan and coordinate daily earthworks, subgrade preparation, pavement construction, compaction, drainage and concrete works.
• Lead supervisors, foremen, operators, labourers and subcontractors to achieve production targets.
• Review drawings, specifications, work programmes and site instructions with engineering and survey teams.
• Coordinate survey set-out and verify that works follow required lines, levels, grades and dimensions.
• Monitor plant utilisation, material deliveries and workforce requirements to minimise downtime.
• Coordinate traffic management arrangements where required and maintain safe access around work areas.
• Identify site constraints, delays and resource shortages, and escalate them promptly.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure civil works comply with approved specifications, construction methods and inspection requirements.
• Coordinate with QA/QC personnel on material testing, compaction testing, concrete testing and inspections.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure defects are corrected before subsequent work proceeds.
• Enforce company HSE procedures and safe work practices around mobile plant, excavations and live traffic.
• Report hazards, incidents and non-conformances, and follow up on corrective actions.

Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with Engineering, Survey, Procurement, Fleet, Workshop, HSE and other supporting teams.
• Maintain accurate daily records of production quantities, labour, plant usage, deliveries and site activities.
• Verify completed works and supporting measurements before submission.
• Attend site meetings and report progress, risks and required actions.
• Perform other duties consistent with the role as directed by the immediate manager.

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant qualification in civil construction, engineering or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated experience as a Civil Superintendent or senior supervisor on civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong practical knowledge of earthworks, pavement construction, drainage, compaction and concrete works.
• Proven experience coordinating construction plant, site crews and subcontractors.
• Experience monitoring production targets, quality requirements and construction schedules.
