About the Role

Our Newmont Lihir Gold mine operation is now recruiting a Co-ordinator - Scaffolding to join the Fixed Plant Maintenance team.

This role will be based on a 22:20 roster and is offered on a 2-year Fixed Term-Full time basis.

You will coordinate the alignment of maintenance activities and strategy with the production plan by understanding plant priorities and the longer-term maintenance schedule.

Your key accountabilities include:

  • Provide technical input into the development of the Maintenance plan.
  • Maintain scaffold register, logbooks and certifications.
  • Develop and approves scaffolding plans.
  • Coordinate external contractor/OEM support for annual inspections, testing and calibration.
  • Co-ordinate Scaffolding resources.
  • Conduct QA/QC audits on completed work and keep abreast of the current state of equipment and plant defects.
  • Drives and influence proactive safety behaviours.
  • Work constructively within a diverse group of people.
  • Assess competency, develop competency assessments and training documentation.
  • Work with the Operations & Planning Team to align the maintenance schedule with the production plan, to optimise production.
  • Create cost saving projects for the team to assist with overall cost reduction.

Essential criteria

  • Extensive experience working in metals extraction and processing roles of large-scale processing plants.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Supervisory role.
  • Experience in the planning and delivery of multi-disciplinary shutdowns and maintenance projects.
  • Advanced Scaffolding Licence (High Risk Licence).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, OEM manuals, and standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a CMMS (SAP desirable) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building and training.

Desirable criteria

  • Relevant post trade and tertiary qualifications.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Previous Expatriate experience working in a remote location.

The Requirements

  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment
  • Must be able to complete a National Police Check
