Construction Superintendent (Level 2)
The Role
To oversee their progress of construction projects and ensure the progress in a timely and cost-effective manner consistent with corporate strategy, by providing leadership consistent with the Company’s Vision, Values and policies.
Responsible for budgeting, organization, implementation and scheduling of the projects related to site infrastructure.
Key roles and responsibilities include

The role incumbent and manager will identify and review the specific compliance requirements of the role.
Technical accountabilities
- Leading safe work practices by ensuring safe work conditions and practices in the Department, proactively investigating all safety and health concerns, and implementing continuous improvement in safety.
- Ensuring the health and safety of all personnel in the Construction Department.
- Managing the completion of site relocation community hosing.
- Reviewing projects in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
- Overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
- Provide oversight and guidance to site maintenance operations.
- Coordinating and directing construction workers and subcontractors.
- Selecting tools, materials and equipment and tracking inventory.
- Reviewing the work progress on daily basis.
- Preparing timely, accurate internal and external reports pertaining to job status.
- Planning ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
- Analysing, managing and mitigating risks.
- Ensuring quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques.
- Managing the available budget to best effect.
- Ensuring that the Construction Department meets its environmental and community obligations and is considered a welcome guest in host communities.
- Contributing productively as a member of the Site Leadership Team.
Scheduling accountabilities
- Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the Construction Department.
- Participating in periodic plan reviews and initiating early corrective action as required.
People accountabilities
- Contributing to the development of capability within the Department.
- Building and developing an effective Department.
- Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
- Managing outputs and development of the Department and all Team Members.
- Ensuring the contract partners associated with the Construction Department are well aligned with Geopacific’s Vision and Values and have the culture, motivation and capability to deliver to promise
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required
Essential
- Behaviour consistent with Geopacific’s Values
- Qualification in construction management, engineering or related field
- Valid Driver’s License
- Proven working experience in construction management preferably in the mining industry, with appropriate experience in processing plants
- Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
- Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
- Understanding of all facets of the construction process
- Familiarity with construction management software packages
- Ability to plan and see the “big picture”
- Competent in conflict and crisis management
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Commercial acumen relevant to the role
- Strong ability to lead and work effectively with people
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills
Desirable
- Strong track record in business improvement
- Improvement training (e.g., 6 Sigma)
